Chapter 8

Bobby called the LA office and had them rush a copy of the LA concert to him in Las Vegas. Bobby and Tony walked through the lobby and headed towards the check-in desk. The manager walked over to them.

"Can I help you with something sir?" Ryan asked.

"Yes, I am expecting a package from LA, and as soon as you get it please contact me immediately," Bobby said.

"Of course I will."

"One other thing, please don't let Angel know if this package - it's for our eyes only," Tony said.

"Yes sir, of course."

"Thanks."

They left and went up to Bobby's room; once inside they sat down. "What do you expect to see on the video?" Bobby asked.

"Hopefully the answer to this nightmare. Let me see the report again," Tony asked. Bobby handed him the report and Tony read it again.

"Did you notice that this kid loves to travel?"

"Yes I did. What I'd like to know is where he gets enough money to travel to all almost all the places where Angel has been in the past few weeks," Bobby said.

"Also how he gets all that time off in order to travel and not jeopardize his job. Is there any way that you can get a sample of his handwriting?"

"Are you thinking that he might be the one who is stalking Angel?"

"That what I am thinking. I am also thinking that the guy who ran up on stage in LA is him."

"Oh my God."

Bobby grabbed the phone and called the manager.

"Yes this is Room 805. Can you please come up here I would like to talk to you. Thank you very much, see you in a few minutes."

Bobby hung up the phone. "He'll be here soon."

"Good. How long will it take for the tape to get here?" Tony asked.

"I told them to send it on the first plane here."

A knock came at the door and Tony answered it. It was the manager. "Please come in," Tony said.

"Thank you, sir."

The manager came in and walked into the living room. "Thanks for coming Ryan," Bobby said.

"No problem. Is there something wrong?" Ryan asked.

"Well I need to ask you a few questions. Please sit down."

"Thank you."

Everyone sat down. "What questions do you need answers to?"

"Well, how long has the bellboy that helped us with the luggage worked here?" Tony asked.

"Who Phillip? He's been working here for about six months, why? Did he do something?"

"We hope not, but we need to ask a favor of you."

"What?"

"Can you get me a sample of his handwriting?" Bobby asked.

"Why would you want that?"

Tony and Bobby looked at each other.

"Should we tell him?" Bobby asked.

"Yes, but a few more questions before we tell him what we suspect," Tony said.

"What is going on?" Ryan asked.

"I suppose he gets a certain amount of money plus tips, right?"

"Yes...and?"

"Is it enough to take time off of a job that he's had for less than a year and travel about the country to concerts?"

Ryan looked at them. "What are you talking about?" he asked.

"We suspect that he might be the person who could be leaving notes and possibly stalking Angel," Bobby said. "We need a sample of his writing so we have something to compare to the writing on the notes that were sent to her. Can you help us?"

"I can't believe what I am hearing, but he has been acting a little suspicious. Let me go down to my office and get you that sample."

"We would appreciate it," Tony said.

Ryan stood up. "I will be right back," he said.

"Thanks Ryan."

Ryan left.

"What do you think?" Bobby said.

"About what?"

"Do you think this is the person we've been looking for?"

"I hope so and then I don't. I mean, if he is not the one then we have to keep on looking, but if he is the one then he has totally ruined his life."

"I know what you mean."

They sat in silence for what seems hours but when then a knock came at the door. Bobby answered the door. In walked Ryan and Bobby closed the door behind him.

"Were you able to get a sample of his writing?" Bobby asked.

"Yes, here it is," Ryan said.

He handed him the piece of paper. Bobby looked at and handed it to Tony, Tony looked at it.

"Where is one of the letters?" Tony asked.

"I'll get one." Bobby went into the other room and came back a few minutes later with a letter for them to compare with sample. They all looked at it.

"It looks very similar, but we need to be sure."

"If it's any help I have a friend who does handwriting analysis for the police department," Ryan said.

"Can you call him?" Bobby asked.

"Sure, oh by the way here is the delivery you were waiting for." He handed the package to Bobby, who unwrapped it.

"Put it on Bobby," Tony said.

Ryan was talking on the phone as Bobby put the tape in the VCR. Tony got a hold of the remote control and scanned the tape until he came to the part that he wanted to see. As Angel sang all of a sudden a man ran up onstage and hugged her and wouldn't let her go. Tony paused the frame of film and zoomed in for a closer look. All three of them stared at the TV.

"Oh my God, that's Phillip!" said Ryan.

"Now all we need is the proof of the writing. Were you able to contact your friend?" Tony asked.

"Yes, he should be here any minute."

A while later Ryan's friend arrived. He came into the room.

"This is Brian Thomas," Ryan said.

"Hello, I'm Bobby and this is Tony. We need you to look at this letter and this sample of writing."

"What am I looking for exactly?" Brian asked.

"We need to know if this writing came from the same person," Tony said.

Brian looked at the two pieces of paper and studied them both. When he was done he looked at Tony and Bobby.

"Well?" Bobby said.

"The writing on these two papers is identical," Brian said.

"So they came from the same person?" Tony said.

"Defiantly."

"Is Phillip working tomorrow night?" Bobby asked.

"No, he asked to have the night off weeks ago. I can't believe that he's capable of stalking someone," Ryan said.

"I know, he seems like such a nice kid."

"Sorry to say that looks can be deceiving," Tony said.

"Now what?"

"We have work to do and things to prepare for tomorrow night's concert."

"Is there anything that I can do to help?" Ryan asked.

"Yes, we need to know all the ins and outs of the arena. If he decides to try something at the show we can't let him escape."

"I have a map of the arena in my office; I'll go and get it."

"Thanks Ryan," Bobby said.

"If Phillip is actually the guy that you're looking for then no thanks is necessary."

Ryan left the room.

"I hope all this comes to an end soon," Bobby said.

"Me too my friend, me too," Tony replied.
